Thus the Lord has done for me
Soon afterward his wife, Elizabeth, became pregnant and went into seclusion for five months. “How kind the Lord is!” she exclaimed. “He has taken away my disgrace of having no children.” Luke 1:24-25
Waiting is tough! Often, in the long wait, we either quit praying or surrender to God’s sovereignty. Thankfully, Zachariah and Elizabeth chose to continue a holy and surrendered life despite their unfulfilled prayer to have a child, even unto old age.
When God gloriously opened the womb of Elizabeth, she chose to hide for five months to cherish and worship God for the marvellous works the Lord had done. Like Elizabeth, are we careful to first worship God patiently and prayerfully to the point of offering our blessings back to the Lord wholeheartedly for His glory and purposes? Or are we quick to share the joy of our miracles before the people who mocked and ridiculed our barrenness and inabilities?
We often try hard to prove to the world that we serve a wonder-working God. Instead, God wants us to sincerely seek His counsel to handle our blessings wisely so that we are prepared to offer what we receive back for His purpose. It is here that God is truly glorified!
Lord, give us wisdom to secretly rejoice before You for the miracles you have done before we rejoice with the world.
