Day 33: Watch And Pray

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Matt 26:41

Paul, in Romans 7:15, writes “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” This is the same cry we have all uttered at some point or the other. Our hearts want to love and obey God, but we seem unable to follow through. Like most New Year’s resolutions, we only last for a few weeks before we are back to where we were.  But thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! His death and resurrection have given us hope! For by his Spirit who dwells in us, we have been set free from the bondage of our flesh  - the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us. Halleluiah! We have been set free.

Because of the above truth, we are urged to watch and pray so we can live as we are called to do.

Lord, we pray for grace to live in the Spirit all our days. We pray for your strength to be made perfect in our weaknesses.

Oh to grace, how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be
Let thy goodness like a fetter, bind my wand'ring heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above

Prone to wander, Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above
Here's my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above
