Day 34: A Prayer For Salvation

“Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence.”

Isaiah 64:1

The children of Israel said this prayer at a time of deep sorrow and pain following their exile. They acknowledged their sins and made a desperate plea for God to intervene in their situation, and to deliver them in His characteristically powerful way, similar to when He parted the Red Sea to save them from Pharaoh and the Egyptian army (Exodus 14).

Have you ever found yourself in a desperate situation and in need of a miraculous intervention? Think upon what that felt or could feel like for you.

Yet the human state of not knowing God as Lord and Father is a far more desperate situation, more in need of God’s intervention, than any problem we may face here on earth. Praise God that in His benevolence He has already given us Jesus in answer to our greatest need for salvation (Romans 5: 6 – 8).

Like the Israelites, you too can confidently approach God today. Be humble enough to acknowledge your frailty and repent of your sins, knowing that God through Christ Jesus will forgive you (1 John 1: 8 – 9).
