Day 16: My God Will Hear Me
"But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me."
Micah 7:7
Lent is a time to pause and think about some of our brethren suffering due to persecution for their faith in Jesus in many parts of the world. They look defeated and foolish to the world, just like Jesus did when he died on the cross.
According to Open Doors UK, more than 360 million Christians worldwide suffer high levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith – that is a staggering one in seven believers!
These verses would be their prayer, as they look to the face of God alone for their rescue and salvation. God, in turn looks to us to see if we can be his hands and feet.
What can we do to ease their suffering as fellow brethren? We can pray and we can contribute financially through trusted organisations like Unreached Network, Tearfund or Opendoors.
May this lent period help us think, pray and act for those who risk their life for the sake of the gospel.
