Let's go over to Bethlehem
“When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger.” Luke 2:15-16
This newborn baby had the Host of Heaven’s Armies singing the gloria for His entrance. What an intro!
But how did the shepherds react to what they found in Bethlehem? Were the surroundings a bit of a surprise – a manger after all was pretty smelly? Did they find the new-born baby cute, but underwhelming?
So it is with us. Often, the Christmas lights and music can seem so much more impressive than the humble and unassuming arrival of Jesus. Yet we know that in Him is the true Glory and Peace and Rest.
Everything else merely points to Him.
