Day 29: The Ends Of The Earth
“Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession."
Psalm 2:8
Psalm 2 speaks of the Lord and His Anointed King (Psalm 2:2b,6), who is King over all. This is Jesus. Jesus, the Anointed King has been ordained by God and the whole earth has been given to him as his own inheritance. When the people of God would sing Psalm 2, they were reminding themselves of how God made David and his descendants to be kings, in order to enable them to fulfil the very purpose for which Abraham was called - to bring blessing to all the nations; to all the families of the earth (Genesis 12:1-3). We are reminded that it is through Jesus - God's Son, the Anointed One, King over all - that all the families of the earth shall be blessed (Galatians 3:14). Only through Jesus' life, death and resurrection would the promised blessings come to all people. Jesus paid the price for our sin. Jesus forgives and gives new life. Jesus saves. Jesus is King (Psalm 89:27), and his Gospel is Good News to all the families of the earth.
